Could Bob Bradley Be the Next Aston Villa Manager?

Bob Bradley, coach of the USA Men’s National team, has recently been quoted as saying that he is «always excited about new and different challenges…Certainly coaching in Europe at some point is something that I would love to do.» Well, now he has a great opportunity since Martin O’Neill left his post yesterday as manager of Aston Villa. Even though Bradley has been tight-lipped as to whether he has been approached by the Villa front office, there is a strong chance that due to the American ownership, he is one of the leading candidates for the job.

For Bradley, this would be the next logical step in his managerial career. His contract with the USMNT expires in December and there are no matches on the slate after tonight’s friendly against Brazil (catch it on ESPN2 at 8 pm EST). Since US soccer has stalled in offering Bradley an extension, he should ply his trade elsewhere. What better place than the Premier League? A return to the MLS would be a step backward, especially since his profile has never been more prominent. The USMNT’s success in this year’s World Cup (winning the group stage for the first time ever) has brought many European eyes upon Bradley. He was first rumored to take over the Fulham job before Mark Hughes was brought in and now he is a strong favorite for Villa.

How do you feel about Bradley potentially becoming a skipper in the Prem? Will US Soccer be better off?
