Affordable Kids Soccer Drills

There are various ways to obtain affordable kids soccer drills. Usually high level soccer training costs an additional $80-$120 per hour in addition to all your normal bills that go along with your everyday life! I have a technique for you that can help. You can take something you do with your family everyday, and turn it into an educational soccer experience.

Do you know any family in the United States that does not own a television? I barely know anyone who doesn’t have 3 or 4 televisions in their house! A great way to teach kids soccer is to have them watch games on tv. This can turn the top professionals in the world into coaches that work with your kids in the comfort of your own home!

The best players for your children to watch will come as a surprise to you. I’m going to list the best defender, midfielder, and forward for your kids to watch. You may not know all of these players, but there’s a reason I chose them and I’ll explain:

1- Defender- Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus)

2- Midfielder- Andres Iniesta (FC Barcelona)

3- Forward- Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

Fabio Cannavaro is a defender for Juventus and Italy. He stands at a modest 5’10. He doesn’t have incredible speed nor is he anything out of the ordinary strength wise. After this initial description, it would come to a surprise that he was the FIFA World Player of the Year a few years ago. What separates Cannavaro from the rest of the crop of top class defenders is his brain. He reads the game incredibly well and perfectly times all his tackles and headers. His advanced thought process comes from studying the game, concentration, and an incredible work rate.

Andres Iniesta is a midfield player for Spain and F.C. Barcelona. He recently scored the winning goal in overtime of the 2010 FIFA World Cup to clinch the tournament for his nation, their first World Cup ever! He is not amazingly quick, strong, fast, or flashy. He has a sound technical base, plays very simple, and is constantly moving off the ball. He defends very intelligently and is always putting in a good shift of work for his team. You won’t see Iniesta doing triple stepovers; he plays 1 or 2 touch and constantly combines and makes himself available for his teammates. He makes the game easier for everyone around him.

Wayne Rooney is a striker for Manchester United and England. He is roughly 5’10 and looks to be a bit overweight. Don’t let his physical appearance deceive you, this is a strong, fit player. Rooney is the only forward I’ve ever seen go for a header in the opposing team’s box trying to score; and the next play you see him making a slide tackle in his own box to save a goal. He leaves his heart and soul on the field every game. My English friends were all telling me that if their entire national team played with the passion of Rooney, they would win the World Cup. That clearly didn’t happen! He has great technique and a paranormal work rate and that is what makes him so successful.

I chose these 3 players to be emulated because they are normal athletes who became very intelligent in the game, developed their technique to perfection, and work ridiculously hard for their respective teams. Watch these guys carefully on the tv, you will learn a lot.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are the 2 best players in the world right now, but they aren’t good players to study because they were simply born on another level than everyone else. They are so naturally gifted that I can’t even explain some of the things they do. Are they entertaining to watch? ABSOLUTELY! But if you’re trying to learn how to improve your child or yourself, watch Cannavaro, Iniesta, and Rooney. These are the best affordable kids soccer drills on the market!
