  1. Funny. Really Funny. You just said that you did not watch the 2nd half and then you started the analysis simultaneously.
Are we, you tubers, have become so dumb? Listening the analysis of the person who openly claimed right in the beginning of the show that he did not watch the FULL match rather half the match. Gooossssh.

  2. That's how Canada plays man! They dare you to break them down, as soon as you make a mistake, they score! We've done it in almost every game. Watch some highlights of Canada brother!

  3. This coach's body of work speaks for itself. He has been trying for almost three years to shoehorn his system on a international team where there is no time to implement that system effectively. I see it differently. This is on the coach and his staff not so much on the players and look at the qualifying games they have been abysmal with the exception of maybe three halves or four halves

  4. Its funny. I do usually think youre negative. But this was a great video. It was insightful, well thought out and reasoned. I know youre not a Berhalter fan,but you still gave him the benefit of the doubt. Videos like this are why I still watch u a lot. Even tho I disagree at times. This video discussed true nuance as opposed to the mob mentality

  5. USA do have the more skilled team and the better depth than Canada (in defense and midfield, not in attack). Don't forget that Canada was missing the best player in Concacaf and their 2nd best player in Eustaquio, who has ran the midfield for Canada in the qualification games so far. Canada similarly played very defensive against Honduras as they could not keep possession without Eustaquio, and they couldn't push the backline back without Davies. The 2nd best midfielder in Canada (Hutchinson) was also unavailable so the midfield battle would have been a lot more tough if these 3 were available.

  6. Not to throw too much Gasoline on the fire, but you just weren't the better team. You had far better possession numbers and did absolutely nothing with the ball when you had it. In this case as well, Canada used your very own game plan against you. They used your tactics and beat you. The better team won. No offense intended, but as much as you're trying to justify the loss, the answers are pretty simple.

  7. I was hoping for a more objective analytical view from you Pete. Canada score 7 minutes in. Their strategy doesn't not concede the US is the better team. That is a homerism hot take, you're better than that. There was no concession that the US was the better team whatsoever. They were also missing multiple starters and have a brutal travel window. GGG got the lineup wrong, the team was playing uninspired soccer, and the US simply has no proven strikers. Canada, annoyingly, has 3. Goals matter. The US cannot score them. Look at the goal differential for this tournament. One team has a +12 and it ain't the US. Or Mex. GGG should have called in Dike to this camp and should have played Pepi last night.

  8. I looove this talk about Canada sitting back and "bunkering." The defense is on the OUTSIDE of the box because we have confidence in both our defenders and the keeper. Some teams put 8 guys inside the box and that tells me they are feeling overmatched. Canada does not do that.

The reality is that the USMNT is very generic. I'm not even sure "talented" is the right word for your squad. You have players with skills that could be useful in soccer under ideal conditions. But there is no game plan. There's no creativity. It's like when a student crams before a test so they can get a high score but they don't understand any of the material.

US team had no answer for our forwards, our pace. It was actually a very routine win for Canada. This was down not only the best player in CONCACAF in Davies and our middlegame architect Eustaquio. But also we were without Piette who was a key fill-in for Stephen in the midfield. Canada has better coaching by a country mile. Every player fills a useful role and knows what their job is. US team has no identity. They are brash and disrespectful of Canada's talent (as an example the head butt from Dest on Buchanan after his lone wolf run was stopped in it's tracks).

If you want to get better you have to be objective. Take a long look in the mirror at yourself if you're the USMNT. What roles need to be filled? Who can fill them? The reality is this – Canada is head and shoulders above your program. You're actually not even in our league. With a full team you might have lost 5-0. You'll be lucky to get to Qatar. Time to get honest about your condition and try to learn from your mistakes. Instead you're making excuses. This is a recipe for disaster.

  9. Two things:
    1) when you score first, it is a normal tactic to sit back and be compact. This is not because they were outmatched by the USA's talent.
    2) Pulisic was a bench player during enroute to CFCs champions league victory. He was at best our third choice winger.

  10. Reggie Cannon is great at crossing the ball and getting into position to cross the ball!!! He is our best RB. He did as much in 15 minutes as Dest did all game. Granted if Aaronson would have passed the ball to Dest in the first half to leave him 1v1 on the keeper from 7 yds – instead he wound up and pinging the ball off the defender who had time to set up – I would say OK Dest good goal great game but……

Why not play a 4-4-2? Two forwards up top – Maybe Weah with Pepi. I'd rather see Sargent and Pefok – they are playing right now – no rust!!!

  11. I said this in reply to another post but it's buried so at the risk of repeating myself, I'm repeating myself.
If Hugo Perez were OUR coach, we would already be qualified.

  12. Where is all the love we should be showing GGG? As he pointed out, several times, we completely dominated Canada. His offensive game plan worked. We created numerous outside-in scoring opportunities, both from the run of play and set pieces. This is exactly what he described as the goal of his tactics. Can we really hold him responsible for the players failing to convert those opportunities? Can we hold him responsible because the Canadian defended so well? It's not like they knew what was coming. Again, where's the love?

  13. Another thing that people know but don’t realize is that the USA had an ave age of 23 for both starters and subs coming in combined and Canada had more experience Ave age 30 starters and 29 with subs. But I’ll take our kids any day to build our chemistry now for the future!

  14. I agree Pete. Greg’s most glaring weakness as a coach is his lack of versatility. Take any great coach from any sport. Belicheck, Phil Jackson or Tuchel. They all have tactical options and practice these with different formations to address the “well this isn’t working” scenario. Gregg needs to pivot not just personnel but formations and the team must practice these.
