  1. The US planned to win in 10 years when the MLS put together in '96,  that was 2006.  We are in 2015.  not the plan is 2022!  🙂  freaking B.S.

  2. I don't think there is one football fan out there that does not like USMNT
What a story. And what a great crack team!
They play like an EPL team! The discipline, motivation, determination, and outstanding display of teamwork… Wow. SO SO german AND english  lol! Amazing. ANd most come from the MLS ranks so it's a plus and a minus. Plus cus they know who they're playing with. MLS DOES have their unique style. MLS doesn't have the best players and they know that so they play an even more tactical game than an EPL team at times. So the style of play adn chemistry is there. But the minus is that then they're a bit naive against european level players. Shown evidently in the Portugal and Ghana games… But Klinssmann is tyring to improve that. They're going to be like Columbia!

  3. Well he is not wrong. Imagine if Lebron was a Forward. Lynch a fullback. If soccer had evolved at the same time as the other sports in the states we would have some world class athletes.

  4. I just read your your message, i bet you feel vindicated. I actually agreed with you when Klinsmann was made manager and not because i thought he'd be better because he was European but because he came with a German mentality which i think suits the American psyche and also because the players will listen to and respect him, if you cant do that with a past World Cup winner, European Championship winner then who the hell will you respect. Here in Europe its obvious the US team is getting stronger

  5. The US is getting better but the fans have to realise it wont happen overnight but its blindingly obvious that the US is going in the right direction with MLS growing, more foreign scouts looking at and signing US players. Dam when i was younger the US or her players didn't exist fullstop but now every season see's more and more US players playing in clubs all around the world with its national team now showing more depth and numbers than ever before. In 20years the US will join the top 10 sides

  6. man.. at this time Nov-17-2012 .. i am so glad to have this guy in charge of out MNT. the Media …small as it is..( in regards to soccer ..still ) are trying to say this FOREINER IS NO GOOD FOR US…Americans. Jurgen knows that also. by the time this Kraut Leaves the usa soccer Landscape, we will be a Force in Football. i hope he gets a second term after Brasil 2014… no matter what.

  7. i really wouldn't say that no one would want to buy them. There would be loads of billionaires wanting to buy United like an Arab. There has only been one Prem club that has ever gone into admin and no buyer has wanted to buy them out; Portsmouth. So out of all the clubs there have been, there has been one 🙂

  8. Well the ManCity-Sheiks and Abramovich of course used their own money!

The Glazers on the other hand have not spent their own money – That`s why for example ManUtd will soon enter the asian stock market to create money for paying its debt because it has grown so big over the last years (800 million €) that nobody really wants to buy this club anymore!

And the new Liverpool owners… well… could they be worse than the last ones aka the "razorblade boys"… I don`t think so!

  9. I think you didn`t get my point (could be my bad English) – Yes they are paying the old debt of the clubs they are buying!

But they pay those debts and buy the clubs with money from the banks and not their own money – And this new debt they convert on the club so that the club has to pay it!

And that goes on and on – New investor comes in, borrows money from the banks, pays the club`s old debt and then converts his own debt on the club – Spiral!

  10. yes but new investors are willing to pay of a clubs debt. Its what happend with Liverpool last season. They were in bad debt. And an American businessman paid of the debt and then bought the club. What happens and will always happen

  11. Little problem: Those investors are buying the clubs with borrowed money from the banks – That means that the investors themselves are in a debt after those kind of deals!

And here is the interesting thing: After they have bought the club they convert their debt to it!

That means: A club has a debt of 200 million – Investor buys it for borrowed 300 million (club now has fresh money and can pay his old debt) – Invester converts his own debt on the club – Club has now a debt of 300 million.

  12. Maybe… but Arsenal is different – You have a lot of talented players there which never reached the highest points of their potential!

But if the Gunners are happy with just having a very talented player it is their problem!

  13. i can promise you liverpool didn't fall apart. ( i live in Liverpool)
And its not major financial problems. with United is Glazer didn't have the money when he bought the club. But if Glazer couldn't pay back his bills, there would be an enless list of billionaires biding to buy that club

  14. Well it change because clubs like Barcelona and ManUtd have big financial problems!

Take for example Liverpool – They fell apart when they one time did not qualify for the CL!

  15. fair enough. I can't see him getting criticised though. English fans never give any abuse to players with such class. (me being English and been to enough games to know).

  16. Oh… cologne is a very very strange football city my friend – And Podolski was never criticized there… trust me!

He is "Prince Poldi" who can not fail – Even coaches were fired because they didn`t get along with him!

  17. podolski played for Koln last season why got relegated. so i think he's used to upset and criticism 🙂
and i'm not surprised Donovan left Everton. Everton is considered a club in England with large built men which aren't afraid to speak there mind. Teams like United there are a lot of tourists so they generally behave themselves at home, but when it comes to away games, the posh people don't go and then they have a good atmosphere

  18. Well… they could join the south american confederation – Would be much closer and they really could improve their football there!

But I guess they do not even want to do that – They want to get their product over with the average audience and it would be very bad if they would get crushed in the first years by other teams!

They live on their little "island of happiness" where they always will qualify for a World Cup and can lie to the public that they really have the potential of winning it!

  19. Donovan had potential – But it is always the same with spoiled talents from small soccer areas! They are not used to criticism, and when the first rough wind blows in their faces they usually leave!

Same thing will happen with Podolski in London – He was a king in cologne went to Munich, failed and then returned!

  20. ah right okay. Never knew that 🙂 but i can't see them letting them join. European teams will fly over, but there will be barely any fans going and it takes away that most prestigious thing about European football

  21. I am german from Germany…

And as far as I know CONCACAF has the so called "Gold cup" where you have to face "great" teams like Canada, Aruba and the Bahamas – They even have their own CL!

And by the way: Australia joined the asian soccer confederation because they decided that their confederation was too weak – So it isn`t impossible to join another confederation!

  22. it's tough to say. He had a loan spell at Everton where he scored there against Sheffield united. But he's blew his chances now because Everton has bought a much stronger striker.

  23. there not allowed. You have to be in Europe for the Champions league. 🙂 but even still, if they were able to produce some quality, then the US public would get some enjoyment out of the world cup and be more involved in the beautiful sport.
i'm not sure if you have an North american cup because there is only 2 teams ?; do you ?

  24. Oh… Donovan…: He was a young player when he went to Leverkusen (which was still a high class club at this time – Players like Ballack, Lucio,…) and he didn`t make it – Then he decided "I am a big star in the US – So I`ll return to the country where they kiss my butt and aren`t questioning my attitude"!

That was when none of the big european clubs wanted to sign him anymore because he was lazy – Only exception a few years later was Bayern Munich (under bad coach Klinsmann)!
