  1. The physical demands of giving birth to a baby. Then recovering from having given birth will take months out of their careers. These women were able to come back to the professional & international level and I applaud them so much. Strong women to look to as role models!

  2. I do like the trick JILL ELLIS (the US coach) pulled by walking ABBY out first (giving the impression that she is starting, thus, confusing Japan. That AWESOME strategy to go at them HARD right from the get go– and throwing their focus off at the beginning, — resulted in the BEST START of ANY WORLD CUP play-off game) .. The only JILL "Mistake" ( BTW she still did an AWESOME coaching Job) !!! …. : When ALEX was having a tough-time being a lone "Target Player–, when Japan was attacking, she should have brought in ABBY after the first Japan Goal… That would have thrown their confidence off & ABBY is a super TARGET player that can hold the ball and give US enough time t build it up (instead of giving the Japan the possession back after every Defensive possession change.

  3. Ffs its FOOTBALL , because its played with foot and a ball. Change it to football, soccer is an insult to all the world as 90% of countries on the world call it football.

  4. I know that no one will believe me but I know Christie Rampone's sister. She was my 6th and 8th grade math teacher. I swear on my life she looks EXACTLY like Christie… its terrifying…

  5. For those of you commenting "Bench Warmer Moms" even though they don't get as much playing time, they are still some of the best soccer players in the world. Christie Rampone at 40 is still the fastest recorded player on the team. It's not about individual skill. The line up is based off of the best chemistry between players on the team. If Jill Ellis feels like Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan or Alex and Sydney Leroux connect better on the field, then obviously that is who she is going to put in the game, but that does not mean that Alex is a better forward than Amy or Lauren Holiday is a better midfielder than Boxx. The same goes for Christie and the entire back line. It's all about chemistry and who works best together. The times that these three players have spent on the field during this tournament, they have been solid and played just as well if not better than the starting line up. All 23 players are just as important as the next and these 3 play a huge part in the success of the team or else they wouldn't be on the team.
