Cartoon Soccer Shows

Cartoon Soccer has been rare and it has not yet been popularized internationally. Though many countries have produced their own cartoon for soccer shows, there are only few that made a huge mark internationally.

In Japan, there have been different soccer shows that utilized cartoon characters. Their anime versions have become popular only to the soccer enthusiasts. In the United States, there are only few cartoon shows about soccer, it could be traced as well to the connection of the U.S. not being so in to soccer due to their large following regarding their own sports like basketball, football and baseball. But there was one soccer show that utilized cartoons to showcase soccer; this was «the Hurricanes». Though this show did not last that long, it has become one of the most recognized cartoon shows about soccer.

Today, there is still a lack of cartoon soccer shows about soccer. We don’t know the reasons behind it but if makers of cartoons maximize the potential of these kinds of shows, they could profit from it much better. Due to the world’s interest in soccer, many might find it fun to watch especially if it creates the whole feeling of a true soccer game. There can be many possibilities when cartoons are used for a show.

So for die hard soccer fans; how about trying to demand for cartoon shows about soccer? Maybe cartoon creators could hear your plead and everybody will get what they want. The internet can be one tool to create buzz about this. So for those clamoring for cartoon shows, act soon, act now!

Is Gaming Becoming a Sport in the United States?

The amount of video game use we see in society today is arguably inescapable. Mobile games such as; Candy Crush, Game of War, or Clash of Clans, record daily revenues in the millions, and someone is bound to recognize one if not all of these game names. This exposure to gaming in everyday light seems to be bringing in a new and unseen age in gaming, where gaming could be seen as a sport.

Ever since the first two people booted up «Pong» on the Atari 2600, gaming has been competitive. When you think about it, playing a game of soccer and playing a video game aren’t all that different. The object is always to win the game but the level of competition and players in the game can vary. Growing up I played Call of Duty on a fairly competitive level but I had no idea how big the competitive gaming industry would grow to be. The growth in this industry can be traced to a number of factors. The financial growth in the gaming industry has been incredible. The recent stance that «nerd culture» has taken in the popular media through means such as The Big Bang Theory. The push by people who genuinely enjoy gaming culture and want to see it get a spot in the limelight has brought gaming into everyday life for the general public.

So what is causing video games to turn into a source of entertainment that people would watch from home like they would football or soccer? The answers might surprise you. In July of 2014 «Defense of the Ancients» or DOTA was played by teams around the world for a community raised prize pool totaling $10,923,980 U.S. dollars. Teams of five would play against one another and eliminate the competition as they moved towards the grand finals and the ultimate prize of first place. While this was the fourth tournament of this type hosted by the games creators, it was the first time it was televised by ESPN 3. ESPN was pleased so much by the results of the coverage they agreed to follow up the next year. It is crazy to think that within the next few years we might see coverage of video games on Sports Center. Unlike ESPN which is only showing you content on competitive gaming during big tournaments, streaming is available all the time. Twitch TV being the main website that comes to mind. Streaming sites allow content creators to show what is happening live on their computers to audiences who can join in the conversation with a chat group function as they watch their favorite steamers/players play live. The potential for growth through an avenue like this is enormous. Just think, you could watch a TV show and chat with fellow fans of the show from all around the world with great ease, all while being able to communicate with content creators.

We know what is bringing gaming into the sports arena, but what is keeping it out? Well it is just not quite time for electronic sports (E-Sports) to become a household name, at least not in the United States. South Korea may be an example of what is to come in terms of E-Sports in the United States. Say the name «Star Craft» and nine times out of ten, a Korean will know what you are referring to. The game Star Craft is practically a national past time of South Korea. The game is featured on cable television and is even featured on a few apps offered by Microsoft’s Xbox, which is a direct competitor to the PC gaming market that Star Craft belongs to. Players in Korea are treated like celebrities, signing autographs, taking pictures with fans, and appearing on talk shows from time to time. Now if I were to tell this to the average American, more than likely the response would be along the lines of «Are you serious?» It’s that big of a deal over there?» Yes, E-Sports in Korea and to a lesser degree, China and Japan are already booming industries. So why hasn’t gaming already become a large industry in the United States where most of these games are made? Americans tend to like different games than the Asian players do. Americans tend to like fast paced shooters, such as Call of Duty or Counter Strike, while Asian players tend to favor strategic games such as Star Craft or DOTA. The problem with shooters is that less strategy is involved. Think of the two genres as an approach to an American football game. While both genres have a well-defined goal like in football the strategic games feature ways to counter movements of other players or their choice of how to move toward their goal via tech choices or character choices. In football, if the defense sends a blitz, you try to counter that blitz by getting the ball to a receiver who is open, or run the ball in the opposite direction of the blitz. There is no correct way to approach the defense’s strategy, and the offense can still make choices on how to approach the situation. The same cannot be said about shooters, there simply isn’t enough depth in gameplay to give watchers new ideas about how they can apply techniques used by professionals into their own gameplay.

Professional gaming is on its way to becoming a real sport in the United States. With air times on ESPN and through the popularization of gaming in everyday life within five or ten years we might see a good chunk of people walking around with E-sport’s team jerseys. Due to the trends of gaming in the U.S. it will likely take radical changes in gameplay to keep viewers watching and to get more of the public interested, but it is feasible. It will take the work of dedicated fans of the sport to push gaming further into the public eye but from what we have seen in the past few years it’s clear that gaming will be considered a sport in the near future.

Can Thierry Henry Bring the MLS to the Next Level?

Soccer has been a growing sport in America over the past ten years and this is mainly due to the effort put in by the MLS. They’ve had many different marketing tactics throughout the years; some have worked, some failed. However, they’ve come up with a new tactic of bringing in some of the biggest names in soccer, like Thierry Henry and David Beckham. Will this help to grow the sport and the league in the USA?

These guys are big time players. Any soccer fan knows David Beckham and Thierry Henry. Even if you’re not a soccer fan, you know David Beckham. I can’t say the same for Henry. This is following the same idea of the NASL, when Pele and other legends came to NY to play for the Cosmos. If history really repeats itself, then this formula should work!

I’m a pretty big soccer fan, although I’ve only been to a couple MLS games since its inception. However, I’m honestly curious to see Henry play. I can see this getting me out to a game, but not sure it will make me want to go all the time. I’d personally rather watch the England Premier League on TV. But, there’s a chance!

There are many fans that love the game like I do and are itching to see Henry play. I’d have to imagine that a portion of them will want to see more as they’ll be impressed. It is good soccer! Then there are the fans that think its retirement for these legends, which is pretty much the truth. But that doesn’t mean they won’t perform! These guys are competitors and I can’t imagine they don’t leave it all on the field.

Then there’s the fan that would just like to go see a game if given the chance; the casual fan. These fans probably don’t know too much about Thierry Henry! So is bringing in these big players going to help grow the sport for casual fans? I don’t think so.

If the MLS had been created before the MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL things would be different today. Unfortunately, there’s too much competition and the casual fan is probably a hardcore fan of one of those leagues.

Many people ask why soccer is so big in other countries. The answer is simple; they don’t have other major leagues! Soccer is their NBA, MLB and NFL combined. That will obviously never happen in the States, but they don’t need that to be successful.

The MLS has been faced with many challenges and they’ve come very far since they’ve started. From the time they’ve started to know, there’s been a major expansion and growth of the sport. The players have also improved. Soccer is the most popular sport played amongst kids, so I believe it starts there. Keeping their interest is crucial and by providing role models like Beckham, Landon Donovan and Henry can really help keep kids going.

SOCCERTOWN USA–AN AMERICAN SOCCER DOCUMENTARY

In the 1870s, Scottish immigrants brought soccer to Kearny, New Jersey. A few years later, they brought it to Brazil. While the game was spreading across Europe and South America, it was being played in the streets, parks, and playgrounds of a small town just across the meadows from New York City… but a world away. And in the 1980s, when the flame of American soccer was flickering, it was three kids from Kearny who helped save it.

SOCCERTOWN, USA is the story of Tab Ramos, John Harkes, and Tony Meola, who grew up with a passion for the game in a country that didn’t share it. It’s the story of the 1990 and 1994 World Cups, when these childhood friends formed the backbone of the United States team that willed its way to famous victories and inspired the generations that would come after.

But it’s also the story of a town – an American town – in which we can see the past, the present, and the future of the world’s game.

SOCCERTOWN, USA premiered last year at the Kicking + Screening Soccer Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award. The plan this year was to go to some other festivals, then find distribution. World events have… overtaken that plan. Since we can’t travel and show our film – and since there are a lot of people (like us) looking for something to watch right now – we decided to make this “educational cut” available for free. We hope you enjoy it.

How Taekwondo Can Help Football and Ice Hockey Players

Team sports are extremely popular worldwide because of their dynamic game play. But few other team sports are as popular as football and ice hockey. To clarify a common source of confusion by ‘football’ I mean soccer, and I am using the world football simply because the entire world excepting the USA refers to soccer as football. Some have called football the king sport because of the fact that it is simple to understand, it’s great fun and people know about it anywhere you go.

Ice hockey also has great popularity in many nations and it would probably be popular worldwide if it was easier to find ice in the hotter regions of the planet. All jokes aside, ice hockey is a serious team sport loved both by players and fans for its exciting style, elaborated tactics and the great skills needed to be a good hockey player.

As a Taekwondo instructor I have worked a lot with football and ice hockey players. The reason why such professional players would choose also to train in martial arts and especially taekwondo is that it helps their performance in their own sport. Taekwondo (TKD) is a famous type of martial arts mostly dominated by fast and explosive kicking techniques. For this reason, taekwondo training will help footwork, quickness and balance all very important both for football and ice hockey players.

The most important thing that a player can get with TKD training is flexibility and that helps prevent injuries especially knee and foot injuries. Feet and knees are essential for football and hockey alike. Both sports demand agility and often strain the athletes causing terrible injuries. Unfortunately it is common for football players and hockey players to suffer accidents during the game which sometimes prevent them from playing long periods losing time, training and money.

Not all the taekwondo styles are equal; my personal opinion is that a school that focuses on the Olympic style of sparring is the best choice for football players because training is focused on using legs, hips and the whole mid section.

If you are thinking of complementing your football or ice hockey training with taekwondo martial arts training the best thing is to find a good taekwondo school and talk with an instructor.

Because different players have different needs you should ask the instructor two basic questions:

1 How will taekwondo training help me?

2 What kind of taekwondo training do you provide?

For any questions or comments about finding good taekwondo schools don’t hesitate to contact me.

Yours,

Markku Parviainen

Chief instructor MP-TKD academy

Beating Tips For Slime Soccer

World Cup Slime Soccer is like actual soccer in general, the difference is slime soccer is two dimensional, with 1 (semi-circular) player on every team, tiny nets, a wall on each side and a quite smaller field. You have an option to play with two players for a minute, two minutes or eight minutes. Plus you can have a chance to play another by pressing «World Cup». If you see a line under each net, do not go on the one under your net for too long because if you do, you will be «pinged» and your opponent will earn the point.

During the qualifying round, the game will be played against either with Argentina, Belgium, Australia, Iceland, China, Costa Rica, Denmark, Cameroon or Denmark. It will be a 30 seconds game and not that hard to beat, especially if you know some soccer ball tricks and how to beat it. Primarily, do not go and grab the ball easily, instead, let your opponent to bring it to you. Have the patience to wait for it. One bet soccer tip is at a right time, with appropriate jump, it will go into the net. If it’s in the air, no better trick awaits your opponent.

In the quarter finals, the game will be played against Denmark, Ecuador, Mexico, France, USA, Italy, Japan or Russia. It is a two minutes game with extra time if deemed to be necessary.

For the Semis, it will be against either with Russia, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa or South Korea. Same with 2 minute game with extra time if necessary but this time more defensive and smarter.

In the finals, the game is against either with South Korea, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, Uruguay, Brazil, and England, Germany or funny thing called the Night Elves. It is a 5 minute game.
