Canada beat the USA in an upset at Tokyo 2021 Olympics. The women’s soccer match ended 1-0 with Canada and Chelsea’s Jessie Fleming scoring the match-winner after Deanne Rose was fouled in the box. The USA had chances to level but Canada’s goalkeeper made incredible saves throughout the second half.

There was no clear ball possession, it was a battle for it. The ball was not even directed towards the goal. so why the penalty? Just because the tussle occured on the penalty box on that team a penalty must be awarded? The referee erred, if I were the coach of the penalized team I shall contest it. That referee should not ever be given the task on a crucial match. That coach & his staff were simply stupid!
