  1. I really hope Jordan Morris makes a comeback. He was quite a quality player when he came back from his first injury, so I hope he can regain form, because he's pretty out of form as of now. I agree with Pete on the speed. He seems a bit hesitant still. No doubt he will recover though, he's done it once before.

  2. I’d consider starting Pefok vs Mexico. Good in the air and for set pieces as well. IK speed won’t be there but we don’t press good at the same time to begin with. Also Pefok is hot rn. I’m still in the Pepi camp only bc Pefok is immobile but I did ponder that thought.

  3. What's funny, is the last time he played John Brooks you ripped Berhalter for playing him. You also got offended by Fox News comparison, but I've never heard Main Stream or Legacy media anywhere else. From what I hear you block people who challenge. I hope that doesn't turn out to be true. I watch almost all your stuff. It helps me to sew things from all sides. And u aren't wrong 100% of the time. And the Songs video is still one of my favorite episodes of anything ever

  4. Brooks a solid club player but inconsistent with the usmnt.Just cause he a European starter who occasionally play champions league doesn't mean he walks Into the starting lineup. The team would have to build team around brooks which wont happen for it to work.

  5. Before I watch this video: yes this is way more than enough to qualify. Is it what we desire and need to use our group's fullest potential? no. do we hate Berhalter for that? yes

  6. Idk leaving out arguably our best CB in Brooks for sands and supporting the mediocrity of Roldan and Arriola upsets me, especially with Sargent getting minutes in a top league. Can't agree more with Berhalters lack of transparency and honesty about his selections, which makes it harder to support him in any capacity. Long seems like hes met his ceiling. Mihailovic would be nice to be given a chance like Nagbe back in the day, rather see a younger player get minutes than Roldan and Arriola who we've seen and dont seem to be a fit in the USMNT. Would love to see Novakovich back in the US soccer fold.

  7. greg needs to get over his beef with brooks. also i feel like he’s got his group then just puts names on a dart board and just picks randomly like that. 270 minutes of pure anxiety this window

  8. Tweaking the roster at this point isn't going to matter. It's CONCACAF officiating so anything can happen, but based on recent results and upcoming fixtures, I expect the USMNT to get 4 points and finish 3rd to automatically qualify. I expect them to lose in Mexico unless the Mexican side has deteriorated even more than it appears. They will win at home against Panama and draw away to Costa Rica. I honestly believe that Mexican football is in serious decline, but they have a relatively easy window with 2 at home and should get 9 points. I expect Canada to get 5 points and win the group on GD. Herdman will have them focused and ready. Canada has a real managerial advantage over Mexico and the USMNT right now.

  9. Hey Pete, firstly get well soon.

I know that Mark McKenzie has been in the dog house since that Mexico game where his blunder lead to a very early goal. But I was wondering, is this all that is keeping him off the roster? What other factors do you think could be keeping him from pretty much all rosters I see? What do you think Mark needs to fix or work on in order to get back into the discussion?

    Thanks!

  10. I can/will nitpick in a minute, but I will say this. If this team can't at least beat Panama in Orlando and secure fourth, it doesn't deserve to go to Qatar. And Gregg's picture should be hung next to John Thompson's on the "Biggest US coaching failures of all-time" wall.

Now to the nitpicking. I will also start with the Elephant. Whatever problem Gregg has with Brooks, it is obvious by now it isn't form. It may be personal, it may be professional, but it isn't about form. To me, this screams a situation similar to Tata blacklisting Arteaga. Which means it's going to take a confidence shattering faceplant by Zimmerman to get Brooks back in the picture.

    GKs – No issues there.
FBs – I don't agree with Bello replacing Dest. Think BOTH Scally and Vines are better options, in that order.
CBs – Sands over CCV or Brooks is the big question mark for me. I see Long as bench depth unless we are qualified by CR. EPB is better than McKenzie and Sands, so no issues there.
MF – I agree Mihailovic > Roldan > Lletget IMHO, but do you know who I'd really like to have seen here? Timothy Tillman. Also, Busio is a talented player who is a bad fit for Gregg's system.
W – Sargent for Arriola. For the reasons Pete mentions. Other than that, happy with the selections.
F – No issues there, except I would have found a spot here or on the winger list for Sargent. Agree we should play Ferreira either as a 10 or as a withdrawn forward. This false 9 idea won't hold water against better competition.

I don't see Reyna getting a lot of minutes at altitude vs. Mexico. Won't have the legs for it. I do see him getting lots of minutes vs. Panama and CR. Also, put me in the Adams playing vs. Mexico camp. Finally, I heard that Richards told Gregg he was healthy enough for a call-in. I like his desire but I suspect Hoffenheim told Gregg differently.

  11. Fans are gonna absolutely hate it, but we're going to play very defensively against Mexico – most likely playing both Adams and Acosta in midfield, and asking all the forwards out there to press, but not deeply, more like around the midfield line. I think Pepi also starts and is asked to do extensive hold-up play. We will unashamedly play for the tie. Then, regardless of result, I expect to see De la Torre given the start against Panama over Acosta, and an all out high press by our forwards all the way to the penalty box with Aronson being asked to wear himself out trying to force the Panamanians into turnovers in our offensive third. I could see Gregg deciding to hold Pulisic as a sub for that game in case we need a late infusion of energy.
