In the end the guys don't really care at the end of the day…they are all millionaires or for sure this coming generation under 25 will be all be millionaires and the women outside of the top 5 or so probably struggle so let them have a little more money and perks no skin off the mens backs.
If the men don't get any prize money and the women get 4 million, the women now give up HALF their earnings to the men who didn't earn anything. This will bite them in the ass. The good male players will leave for higher pay on other teams and only mediocre players will play for the USA. The women will be LOSING pay because of this. Why can't they understand basic economics and motivation?
If the men wake up some day and come up with a request for "equal conditions" it's going to be funny. I bet the women wouldn't concede/renounce anything.

The get 15 million just for qualifying for the world cup and each round they make it to the prize money adds up 5 million for round of 16 then another 5 million for quarters so 10 million just for making the quarters for a total of 25 million for the world cup and the women get half now
What did the woman’s team have over US soccer to be able get this deal? This was an unequal deal, this deal does not equally reward winning, yet the seemingly rational are lording this deal as a full solution!
The woman’s team exclusive benefits will be thrown into confusion when a trans player hits the scene.
The scary thing is the female footballs think this is fare! They make good sounding speech and everyone cheers. If mens soccer continues improving the women will benefit from the pooled money.

couple of thoughts as a former soccer player and casual soccer fan, nothin controversial. just some context when you said "i guess the men got it like that", short answer is yes, they got it like that.
I think the long answer goes something like this, the MLS teams in recent years have shown that they are able to attract stars away from top European clubs mostly by paying more(David Beckham, Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic). so its not that the male US national team is loaded, its that the men get great benefits and pay from their professional teams already, you called the male contracts "hired gun" contracts, and i found that funny because your totally right, its just that the club teams can pay so much more for those guns that I think playing in the world cup actually costs certain top male players because they'd be making so much per game for their club team. So for alot of top players playing in the world cup for your nation is more for pride/prestige than anything else.
your mcdonalds comparison is off just a bit, its more like your already at McDonalds for 50$/hr plus full benefits, but you just love burgers so dam much, your willing to lose out on a days pay at McDonalds to work a day for the local burger joint, the non corporate shop, at 5$/hr and give them a quality burger they dont normally have. man i stretched this analogy to the breaking point, maybe even past it…
but so yea, because of that context, i think they know they are getting "racked over the coals" in this deal. but the national team is so little of their attention they just don't care. the world cup is only once every 4 years, and due to what i'd call "weird soccer cultural reasons" top stars internationally normally do not participate in qualifying rounds, so they aren't coming to the 2 year before the cup and 1 year before the cup type qualification level matches anyways (it may just be what i mentioned earlier about it actually costing them to do it due to lost revenue, but i still find every nations team the the qualifying rounds remarkably young so i don't think im off saying there is a cultural element also. i'll even speculate a bit, it could be that teams prefer to run out young talent against top competition, rather than call up a pro who may be annoyed to be there? like i said, i dont know for sure why i just know i always see it).
think that's all the relevant stuff i know from the stupid amount of time i spent playing soccer as a kid/young adult and a shout out to anyone else who knows what im talking about when i say i played "club soccer" as a kid
