  18. Getting a point vs Mexico and a win vs Panama would just about lock it up since the US would at worst finish level with Costa Rica on points. We would be at worst plus 10 in goal differential and they would be at worst plus 3. Unless they beat Canada and/or El Salvador by blowouts, they would still have to really run up the score on us to knock us into the playoffs. A point in Mexico does matter, but a loss would not be the end of the world.

  20. I still think Horvath plays Mexico even though Steffen played a game for ManCity last weekend. Horvath is in better form right now, and gives Steffen a chance to rest up before the Panama game. If you guys are stating to start our “B” squad for the Mexico game, shouldn’t that mean that Horvath starts too, being our 2nd string GK in this window?

But what's the math for the team morale going into a second game where you have lost the first game??? The morale will be completely deflated against Panama, even if you deploy the so called "A" team. I would rather have the team walk into the Panama game with a swagger having gotten a result against Mexico. Spirit on fire will outwin any mathematical equation, imho
