1. Despite only making it to the round of 16, it’s crazy how much our players have changed. In 2017-18, our four best players where Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, Micheal Bradley, and Christian pulisic. 3 out of 4 of them where over the age of 30, at the end of their career playing in the mls. In that T&t game, we only had 1 starting player in a european league. In the 2022 World Cup squad, we had 17 players in our World Cup squad. Only one guaranteed starter was in the mls, a much bigger upgrade than ten

  2. This game was a classic case of why you HAVE to pull the plug on an older roster on a national team. The World Cup is for younger legs and we are seeing that exact thing this World Cup.
That game that night had a buch of over-aged players that looked so gdamn lethargic that our GK'er couldnt even get to the far post on a 40 yard kick by T&T. Howard, Bradley, Cameron, Gonzalez, Altidore and Dempsey all looked totally exhausted.
This is also why I had NO issue with Landon Donovan being left off of the 2014 Cup roster, he was over the hill and Klinsmann and his staff knew it. We were already and older team going into that World Cup with guys like Jermaine Jones, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore, DeMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler and Geoff Cameron.

  3. The US have just qualified for the knockout phase in the 2022 World Cup, and this video pops up on my feed.

The scars from that dark day are suddenly refreshed.

  4. Colbert’s comment on this, in the first year of President YouKnowWho, was a classic: “There was one last chance for Team USA; Mexico had a late free kick that would have tied the game and saved the USA from elimination from the World Cup …. but there was this wall….”

  5. If I can be honest about the USMNT. The moment they lost and failed to qualify was the moment they disrespected our country and flag. They were supposed to be the best american players available across various world leagues. And performances like they displayed is just controversially embarassing.

I ended up boycotting the World Cup after all of that. So I hope some serious changes were made prior, now that we're in Qatar this year.

  6. I would say that Panama were the worst team in World Cup finals history barring only the Koreans in 1954. Any team that loses 6 nil to England must ve shocking. So how the States got dumped out is mystifying. You need an FA Cup over there.
