  1. “I’m just gonna come right out and say it, the [Portuguese] Primeira Liga is much more intense and harder to play in than MLS.” -Reggie Cannon
(and the Primeira Liga is not at the same level as the EPL, Bundesliga, La Liga or Serie A) Gregg Berhalter has shown proclivity for calling up a lot of MLS players to the USMNT and that will continue to hold back its potential. His promotion of MLS is how I knew he was coming back even though I was mocked for months on Twitter for saying it. Hector Herrera with the Houston Dynamo just complained asking why the Mexican National team no longer calls him up or calls up Alan Pulido. He asked why is it that once they move to the MLS, they get stopped getting called up? (It should be obvious) So, I now ask the question, are you OK with holding back the USMNT's potential for the sake of promoting the low level MLS?

  2. Man. I was heated when they announced at kick off he was coming back but after some time and watching your video I gotta say you're right… you did sound holier than thou.
We're allowed to be pissed when we don't like ussf's decisions and not everyone has hours to compose a video strategically breaking down all the reasons why. So we'll say this fed is trash. Emotions run high with things we love. Passion is important. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.

  3. Do you really think the players are gonna say No we dont want him!! Come on! Pepi hung up on him when he found out he wasnt going to WC!!
I only heard that Pulisic n Weah were only ones. He barely got us into WC!! Him winning nations league n gold cup is nothing major considerin that Callahan did batter in the natiins league. It shows you its because of the talent we finally have. My other problem is berhalter's lies to the fans bout reyna who wasnt injured is fireable!! These players have gone way beyond what berhalter ever did n get coached by world class coaches. A mgrs job is to put players in the best place n teach these players to be better. What can he possibly teach them???
You can see a big difference in how they play now vs when berhaltor was there n im not talking they have had more time together but just the freedom and joy u could see from players!! They looked like they were having fun instead of being miserable in a system that doesnt work!!! Look at how reyna played!!! Now im sorry but berhaltor purposely put him out of gametime because of personal things going on. Hes hindering the progress of our players!!
I played many years n had many full ride scholarships plus at age 13 i was invited by england coaches to live over there so they could teach me more so i know how things go and im sorry ive had many coaches like berhaltor n if he doesnt change it wont work!! Mark my words!!! The players shouldnt change for the coach…the coach needs to change based on the players and what they do best. Sorry if u havent played like i did n are mostly a fan n knowledgeable about the players u wont truly understand the logics of what a real coach should be!!
Also one more thing….if every fan decided to not show for anymore games because of him what would the USSF do??? It doesnt matter why people hate him as long as the fans pay the bills!!!-

  4. When did the players know he was going to be hired back? If they knew GB was coming back and they were asked about it. Why would they talk shit about him?

  5. The federation didn't even conduct a half-hearted interview process. It's indefensible. There is much to be learned from a candidate even if you don't end up hiring them. The federation should have learned how each candidate would approach our tactics, lineups, as well as their general objective-oriented timeline for ramping up to the World Cup, etc. During the interviews, USSF could have presented each candidate with an in-game scenario, ie the Dutch cutting off our midfield, and learned how they would go about dealing with this situation. How would each candidate deal with an off-field/changing room situation? I think Gregg has been fine, but he has limitations imo. My issue is more with the federation's lack of an interview process that should have borne not only diverse candidates, but interesting ideas on how to approach problems that have plagued USMNT in the past.

  6. I will say that USSF is a pile of garbage. It's not just this hiring that makes me feel that way either. The 1st time they did it they did it the same way, let's draw this out amd pretend to look and then hire someone with a terrible resume that happens to be a board members brother. Then the 2nd go round they gaslight all the fans into thinking we have a chance at a real coach that can really move this team forward, I would also like to say I prefer 1 cycle coaches unless the guy wins the WC maybe. Once they are there multi cycles it really reinforces a manager getting his favorites and sticking to them till the death. Back to the hiring this time they put on this big show about really looking for the best guy hire extra people on the board, hire sportsology, we see all these names being rumored then they wait and wait and wait and after the kickoff of the game against Mexico when they knew nobody was going to pay attention they announce it on Twitter. If they were going to rehire Gregg just do it right after the investigation happens why wait and pretend? Amd just like you are coming off in this video, USSF basically said to the fans go fuck yourself we don't care what you think, kind of like last time people complained about GGG and the Athletic just so happened to write an article calling the fans toxic because we don't agree.
I will give GGG a chance before I lose it and right him and the most talented team the USA has ever had off. But if we go back to same shitty rosters and starting lineups, the same tactics with no adaptation to our team or the opponent where we are married to the 4-3-3 with no creativity and the fullbacks bombing up and hitting crosses to nobody I'm probably going to lose it. He showed nothing to say he is the guy to take us forward and as an American fan I was pretty embarrassed watching Van Gaal stand there and talk about how easy those tactics were to beat especially since he knew Gregg was too proud or dumb to adapt and tore us apart, that team wasn't that much better than us. And with this video you are starting to act just like them throwing little passive aggressive insults at fans and other YouTubers because they don't agree. If you haven't noticed it's not a small minority upset by this even analyst who usually never say anything bad about USSF has had issues with this but thank you for sitting up there woth your holier than thou attitude like you are actually somebody and are so much smarter than the rest. I don't think I've seen an analyst not from the US not think this whole thing is a damn joke and a laughing stock. Most people don't really care about him kicking his wife 30 years ago either they are just sick of seeing regular people lose jobs for way less for things that happened in the past or an old tweet while people on top it doesn't matter we should just shut up and take it. Like I've said I'm normally a fan of yours even if I don't agree with what you are saying but to get on your soap box and go on about how bad everyone else is while passive aggressively making comments like a fucking child people get sick of that. Can the fans of this nation not want and expect more especially for the most important WC in our history with the best team we've ever had. But we hire a coach who club wise failed everywhere he went and met the bare minimum expectations for the national team and we rehire him with better candidates out there. It's a joke, it's nepotism and one of the reasons all the drama happened last time. I thought we had learned and would go get an outsider to manage the team. USSF is shit and the run it like an authoritarian government, if you dissent you will be punished or ostracized and that goes for players too, how many players has he already black balled? Who's next? The soccer world is laughing at us right now for this.
Now hopefully Gregg has learned and maybe he has changed but listening to him talk I think his ego would never allow it. He has to be better at roster selections, he has to be better at making lineups and subs, he has to be better at adjusting his tactics and not living and dying by doing the exact same thing every game. And the players that spoke out for him are the guys who are locked in starters what are they going to say fuck this guy, so they can end up like John Brooks? You lost my respect here, there's no hate towards you but this was just bad be better, especially if you are going to sit there and talk to people and pretend you are better. I hope Gregg succeeds only because I really love this team but if he puts out a turd in Copa America I hope that USSF has the balls and integrity to fire him. We have looked better in these games with Hudson and BJ than I had ever seen us play under Gregg and a big part of that was there was no intricate system they MUST play by and they had the freedom to play beautiful fluid soccer and I hope that isn't all down the drain now

  7. I think you're doing the fans a great disservice by assuming that the people criticizing this hire are just doing so out of blind hate with no legit reasoning behind it. Yes GGG won some trophies, but he's also been blessed with the most talented and deepest pool of soccer talent the US has ever produced. We were also third in WC qualifying. Lost twice to a Canadian team that we clearly have the talent advantage over–even before Balogun.
The team has consistently had slow starts as well as just eking out victories over teams we should be dominating. He's demonstrated over and over that he doesn't know how to get the best out of theses players or even who his best players are–cough* Reyna *cough. Here's my rebuttal to his successes: other US coaches have gotten similar results in the past with less talent against better competition.
Then there's his atrocious handling of things with Gio Reyna. Even if you put aside his hypocritical talking outside of the locker room he clearly botched things even before that. Why tell Gio he wasn't going to be playing much? Why wait until AFTER the WC started to finally sit him down and talk to him? And then the obvious lies during the WC.
The players backing him up means nothing to me. Sports, at just about every level, is filled with coaches that the players loved, but simply weren't good enough. Plenty of those coaches that got replaced not only did better, but also ended up being liked by those same players just as well as the old coach. Coaching hirings should be made by a dispassionate third party, not the players. Especially when the majority of your players are still quite young.
USoccer should have let Greg take the league mx job. He's much better suited for coaching a club than a national team. He's a mediocre coach fortunate enough to have some very good players and better depth than any previous US coach. His hiring is a clear message to the fans that the US federation is perfectly OK with mediocrity. I might actually root for him if the federation was honest about the whole thing. "Hey he's just like you. A regular guy who's not great at his job and is just trying to muddle through. We hired him because he was safe and cheap. Give him your support and hopefully he can rise above his limited skills and do something special."

  8. It is so easy to be negative. Constructive Criticism is a lost art. Trump has taken over far too many American's brains, because it is easy to be a victim. Why do so many find being negative the way to make America great again? Professional whiners……BACK OFF!

You are making sense and talking facts. You WILL be hated. Greg had a lot more than a modicum of success. (and the Dutch ARE very, very good) In fact, the members of the team are infinitely more qualified than you, or I, or ANYONE of the 'brilliant' people making negative comments! My question for them is IF YOU ARE SO SMART AND TALENTED, why are you not on the US team?

  9. Gregg Berhalter is not good enough. You are a part of the problem. In other countries they criticize the team openly. In America aby valid critiques of the federation and coach is deemed as toxic. He needs to be fired immediately and the people who truly know the sport can clearly see that.last video I'm watching of yours.

  10. Can you just talk soccer. I am a 67 year old soccer fan. I don't care about gossip. I want you to look at Chelsea 2022/2023 season. I assert that Chelsea's mediocre performance is a direct result of not having an exceptional coach.

As a side note Pulisic should use his experience with Chelsea to appreciate the benefits of playing under an exceptional coach.

For Me a national team coach priority is to identify talented players and recruit them to join the team. His 2nd priority is to empower the talented players so they perform at a higher level under his guidance.

The USA has a population of 330 million. Due to Berhalter mediocrity the top players never made it to the team.

I laughed when you said that Ricardo Pepi's form at club level justified Berhalter excluding Pepi from the WC squad. If that is a measurement then C. Pulisic performance at club level as well as S. Dest performance should have disqualified those two players from being on the team. You are typical of most human beings. You spin the facts to fit your narrative. We are fortunate to witness a legendary soccer coach by the name of Pep Guardiola. What is extremely informative is the number of players who credit Guardiola's guidance to improving their performance.

In the past 4 years how many US MNT players have credited Berhalter coaching to improving their performance?

  11. Dude – We don't need to cite all the specific merits or lack thereof in regard to the hiring of GB. It's been discussed for years now. He did ok, but many of us believe he underperformed given the talent at his disposal. Not to mention that his initial hiring was suspect given the nepotism involved or at least the 'appearance' of nepotism which is equally as bad. Then, they go through the motions of investigating and searching which was clearly just a big charade in order to bring him back. The US Soccer Federation does not care about fans. Period. Like any large organization with a large budget, they are highly politicized and act in the interests of whoever is paying their bills or lining their pockets. It should be transparent and publicly funded / self-funded as much as possible and fans should have a say in who is making the decisions about who is leading and managing the group of players that are representing our country.

  12. Jake is out here keeping it real for the USMNT fans. This is such a well articulated and coherent and civil take. It just makes me sad that so many fans are gonna be too inflamed to actually receive the message. Their hate for GGG burns strong!
To end on a positive note, keep up the great content brother!

  13. Univision just confirmed that Gregg chose last nights lineup, we need to get rid of Gregg I’m honestly scared of this guy he gives me nightmares. I haven’t been sleeping well ay nights because this man a terrorist to America. He’s impeding the success of a 2026 World Cup. Fire him please. The people have spoken, we need to start holding banners in stadiums that say “Lock Gregg Up!!” Please America wake up!!

  14. You forgot Lexi saying, "We need to being back to defrst csnel culture." That is even a wild take. I think Lexi so funny but he says crazy shit. I do think the players running to Gregg's defense just eant to keep their spots and roles on the team because a different coach wouldn't play that shit. Those guys start with a different coach but these guys are wilding.

  15. Gregg did not start conversations with Folarin Balogun. Also I truly believe we won in spite of Gregg’s horrible tactics because our talent level is just that much better now

  16. The process with Gregg's re-hire seems more crooked than his initial hire. I think the problems of his rehire go far above and beyond anyone's opinion of Gregg himself. The Sportsology deal stinks of corruption. There was a large amount of money moved around here for a coaching search. Now multiple stated candidates have confirmed that they were not interviewed for the position. It looks like the US Soccer Federation staged 6 months of theater, and this is why we get so many comments about the federation being a joke. Hugo Perez confirmed he was never interviewed. Patrick Vieira confirmed he had been asked about his interest and he was keen on the position, but then never heard anything more. All of this to say, what was Sportsology paid to do? Were they simply identifying these candidates and it was up to US Soccer to pursue them? Was it all a sham, and was there corruption in the process. Whatever anyone thinks of Gregg, it is unfair to him to appoint him under this cloud of potential corruption (a 2nd time, no less). How can Gregg earn a fair assessment when the circumstances of his hiring and rehiring are always shrouded in these questions? It appears that the Federation is either corrupt, or so inept that they look corrupt.

  17. Could also being a case of not going against the inevitable and trying to get some merit. The World Cup was it for me just seemed like we left some ppl out who should’ve been taken or we weren’t getting the best out of that squad. I expected USA to have passionate outing similar to the Mexico game
