im sorry, who has Spain played so far? plz remind me. Costa Rica (36th) and Zambia (77th), who both tried to play wide open against maybe the top possession team in the world. Zambia who is averaging 5 goals given up in 2 games? both Costa Rica and Zambia gave Spain tons of time and space to work. sorry not buying Spain yet. when Spain plays somebody who actually can play defense and counter, and Spain can finish. then maybe ill grudgingly slide some respect their way. ive seen this exact same Spain hype many times before, not falling for it.
meanwhile the US had to play a tough Vietnam team who parked the bus and was just trying to frustrate the US the entire game. smashing into 9 players on defense the whole game is never easy, for any team. not sour on the US in the least.

Messi scored .43 goals per game in Ligue 1. Clearly slowing down from his Barca days. The defending in MLS is poor. Only 3 of the EIGHTY DPs in MLS are defenders (all CBs, no FBs) and the vast majority are forwards. MLS teams invest very little in their defense and you get what you pay for.
