  1. i knew we weren't going to win regardless. this is a massive wake up call for the federation as a whole. vlatko should have been fired after the olympics, we're lucky that we got the bronze medal. he needs to go. this cannot continue.

  2. Wish you guys had the same energy for the #USMNT and mediocrity especially from the manager as you do for the ladies

You pile on Vlatko for doing and being exactly the same as Berhalter

    What happened to equality??

Why do we hold the ladies international game to a higher standard than we do the men??

You guys are making the exact same analysis as when you do a Berhalter team in world cup qualifying minus the water carrying grace

Never heard you guys call for Berhalter to go post mediocre performance

  3. I wonder if all that chatter with Rapinoe and equal womens pay stuff effected the young players psyche. Them being distracted by all that noise and them having to prove rheir worth. They got out classed by Holland, and choked on those penalties, idk

  4. The consternation surrounding this exit is over the top but real concerns do exist that are primarily attributable to the professionalization of the women's game in Europe while the US game remains mired in the ECNL and college development system. It's a challenging situation because the money doesn't exist in the US to "flip the pyramid" and the distances between populations in the US make it difficult for elite players to compete against elite players outside of an ECNL-style system.

  5. One of the large problems facing the US Women now is that they are a brand more than they are a team. We have tournaments in the World Cup that showcase the women from the previous World Cup even though they will likely not start in the next one. This leads to a dearth of players in their prime, younger players playing out of position to support more prominent known older players. In short the US Women's Team seems more about selling the brand than winning on the field, this coupled with the success of the women's game across the globe means the USWMNT is going to find these tournaments getting more and more difficult. Personally I think this is a great thing; the US women won the first Women's World Cup in 1991(only 32 years ago) and when they got back from the games one reporter was there to great them. Today they have created a global phenomenon that has encouraged woman across the globe to compete in the sport they loved but never dreamed they would be able to play, and these women aren't going to be intimidated by you because of your Instagram followers or your advertisements. The game has changed and the US Women need to change with it or be prepared to watch other teams pass them by.

  6. Great discussion. I’m English 61 years old. Loved the game since I was a kid. I hope the USA women’s team and the football system there do not get complacent . The English men’s side have taken decades to catch up to the “underdogs so called. They underestimated other nations in the Fifties (USA 1 England 0 1950 World Cup) and (England 3 Hungary 6 1953) were wake up calls. But the English football league ignored European Club football for years. They thought they were inferior. It took Sir Matt Busby to take Man United into European football against advice and arrogant opposition. I thought The USA were excellent against Sweden. But their keeper had a blinder. I just don’t want the USA to lose interest in this game because of one bad tournament. The game needs them

  7. Let’s quit bashing players. They feel bad enough as it is. It wasn’t on them. It was the coach. Not one player was set up for success. We have more talent than anyone. But talent doesn’t usually win out. We have to play together and the scheme needs to be changed.

  8. It might be time for the USWNT stop focusing on money and social justice issues but rather focus on playing the game. In the end they will exit this World Cup making more money than the actual winners (thanks to having their hands in the men's purse). Money is what they wanted and money is what they got.

  9. Your Vlatco messed up from selection. Why will you carry so many over 30's players, People you needed on the team, Horan, Lavelle, Smith, Williams, Rodman, Ertz, Dunn, Girma, What system was Vlatco playing. Horan was almost playing as a DM instead of making slide rule passes, where were the passers in the team? Sullivan is good at spraying long passes but the Swedes are expecting that type of game they are too experienced for such a simple game plan. Sometimes you need an intelligent attacking midfielder who can see a defence splitting pass.

Why did he not have a ball carrier are you saying out of all the tryouts he could not find a ball carrier as back up for Lavelle? No replacement for Tobin Heath? No Replacement for Christen Press or a striker like Wambach? I don't even understand how his system works.

I look at Germany I know exactly what is going to happen they are going to cross it to Alexandra Popp and she is going to out jump out muscle any defender and "Popp" it in the back of the net. You look at the Spanish and they are going to pass thier way into your goal. You have two wingers but no strong physical presence in the box all the tall women in the US no one who could use thier head and physical strength.

Are you playing a passing game? If so why no replacement for Lavelle? After losing Swanson and Maccario no similar replacements out of 300 Million American citizens wanted to play for US instead they are playing for other nations? Why? You don't just need a coach you need a good scouting system.

  10. I hope the USWNT can get back to playing soccer at an inspirational level for young girls and with pride on the international landscape. No more politics. USA has the talent.

  11. The front line was the main issue. Morgan has aged out and Rodman isn't ready for international level play. Vlatko put together the wrong roster and the wrong front line. Yes, Vlatko should be replaced and there needs to be some changes to the roster.

  12. Focusing on neoliberal politics, instead of the actual game , and Megan Rapinoe was embarrassing, and by the way the world has caught up , Colombia is now the only country in the Americas that is in the quarterfinals

  13. USA really deserved to beat Sweden. LaValle being out was a big factor I think. The USWNT was the gold standard of Women's for a long time and depended on Uni players. Now all the European and other countries have proper training academies. The top several teams in all the European pro leagues, England, Germany, Spain, France and others are better than any of the US pro league . Many of the best USA and Canadian players , and world wide players, now play club pro in Europe. There is a reason for that. The soccer and training are just better.

  14. I was disappointed that Morgan and Rapinoe were not the same as those who brought that trophy home in 2019. Their target accuracy was very poor but I still thank them for bringing the trophy of 2019. It is better for a penalty kick to be blocked by the goalie than kicking it all the way out of the net while knowing that the kick is the tiebreaker. I think that the absence of Rose Lavelle and maybe Christen Press was also a factor.

  15. Recall when the US Olympic basketball team embarrassed themselves? They were supposed to win, right? It takes a clean sweep to clear out this attitude held by virtually an entire team. Because many of them will return and expect to be automatically included in the next team. Precisely why they lost this time!

  16. Not complicated… From the beginning of training make Morgan a sub and don't play Rapino = USWNT are still playing….Younger players didn't get pushed/prepared because the team thought it could rely on those 2 for contributions and they couldn't. Morgan was half washed while Rapinoe was completely washed on the field.

  17. Lynn Williams was dynamic when she came in. Why wasn't she starting? Morgan was solid but we have better players now. Sophia Smith or Rodman should've been our 9.

  18. I think coaching was a major reason they didn't beat Sweden. They have the 2 time defending world champions and they resorted to creating only by forcing the ball down Rodman's and William's side. Yeah they did decently but they were always crossing into a box with 8 experienced Swedish defenders waiting there. Maybe if Wombach was still playing they could have won, but they needed to create better chances. There were a couple good ones Horan had but the rest were less than a half chance.

  19. A big issues is other countries have a center forward that score goals. Morgan isn't even a top 20 striker in the world and hasn't been for awhile. Why Vlatko kept starting her and never even tried something else doesn't make much sense.

  20. The USWNT already was paid more than the USMNT as proven in court…. Continued to cry and now receive millions from the USMNT’s success at the 2022 World Cup while receiving insurance benefits that the men do not get. And yet they STILL hate this country. Good riddance
