  1. it's a very important year for US Soccer no question, but remember, we are going to be involved, in the games that count, in either knockout games (nation's league) or tournament soccer (Copa) — both of which can be highly unpredictable. Frankly, no matter WHO is coaching, we could crash out in both. We could lose to Jamaica, especially if Leon Bailey is healthy and in form. We could also fail to advance in COPA. I think it is really important for this year we develop player depth, especially at the attacking positions. We need a 35 man roster that is as interchangeable as possible. We now depend on indispensable players which is very hazardous. In many ways, as we all know, Berhalter is the wrong coach to deal with this, in that he has yet to prove he can in fact manage an A minus B+ roster against weak opponents, let alone Jamaica or Uruguay. Perhaps one benefit of crashing out in these competitions — not that I am wishing for that — is that Berhalter WILL have the door hit his A$$ on the way out to coaching oblivion. Maybe the WORST alternative is to have him manage us to a so-so ambiguous, kinda sorta OK performances where we squeak by. Bottom line, it is both a blessing and curse to be a fan right now of the USMNT, because it could be great, or it could really suck. On the other hand, this is what Italy fans are going through now, but at least they have won stuff in the past. I suppose that is some consolation, minimal consolation I suppose, but some.

  2. I am a very casual fan or more so just a typical US Soccer fan. The competition I'm most excited for this year is the Olympics. That is what most non soccer fans will be watching and it'll change the perception for a lot of people if we win the gold. Hopefully we bring Pepi because he is the best striker in North America. #FreePepi

  3. No year is a big year when your soccer federation is the USSF. All years are low expectation years. Take the black pill. Drink the whiskey. Go to sleep.
