USWNT Falls to Mexico 2-0 🇺🇸 📉 Recap + Reactions to USA's CONCACAF W Gold Cup Struggles 🏆

It was USA vs Mexico in the last match of the CONCACAF W Gold Cup Group Stage, and we extend a very sincere apology to La Tri, for not taking this matchup seriously enough. It’s very possible the USWNT entered this one with the same lack of intensity as they looked flat and out of sync for the great majority of the match.

In this one, we discuss the USWNT’s main issues as we see them, where this went wrong for the USA, and where it went right for Mexico. Hug win for La Tri as they take Group A and clinch the 3-seed heading into the CONCACAF W Gold Cup Quarterfinals!

  1. I used to laugh at other countries playing old ass women or short fat unathletic girls on their national teams but now the USWNT hero worships vets so much that it is USWNT playing players pushing 40 that are old and slow. Some of these vets the USWNT insists upon calling up werent even starter quakity in their prime and now we are counting on them to log crucial minutes. Its crazy.

  2. Just gonna say teams don't seem to watch enough tape of Jackie Ovalle…she wreaks so much havok in Liga MX Femenil when those long soft balls are thrown to the opposing defenders….she runs like a speed demon (seriously id like to know her 40yd dash time) knowing exactly the predicaments the defender is going to find herself in running full bore towards them….kept Argentina's defense on notice a number of times (even if there were no goals that time around)….but seems Sauerbrunn, as was said, didnt watch enough tape

  3. Look we all have to own up to our mistakes. I barely watched the game thinking Id just look up when the crowd cheered and then see some defender I have never heard of falling over as Smith flew by her.

But Dino you nailed it. I watch mostly euro ball and then watching USWNT it looked like women's game from a decade ago. My worry is maybe we have never really progressed from there. We looked so strong before WWC minus my girls Smith and Rodman. I am not sure if I have seen more under performing than from those two in a USA shirt. If Emma can get those two performing….wow the good times will be here again!

  4. No apologies necessary guys, women's football is advancing at speeds approaching that of light.
Everyone's guessing where everyone is right now.
What I truly value about your commentary and analysis is it's rational basis, intelligence and a humility that avoids partisan presumption.
As a self confessed Barca fanatic, it is something that I aspire to and probably fall short of frequently.
It is fascinating that you identify the center back passing as the critical short coming in the USWNT game —
I agree absolutely on that: at Barca they miss Mapi so much that they have replaced her with a Norwegian midfielder (Ingrid Engen) and I'm old enough to remember the golden years when little Javier Mascherano partnered Pique at center back for the men's team.
The USWNT has talent, it needs a plan. If it were up to me I'd give Jonatan Giraldez the job of coming up with one — like Pep Guardiola, his Catalan ties are too strong for him to ever get to coach the Spanish National Team anyway.
